There are now hundreds of film colleges, offering degrees in various
branches of cinematography, some offering courses on-line. It is possible to
earn anything from a certificate degree in film production to a PhD in a more
specialized field.
The rapid increase in film colleges is largely due to the constant
technological advances being made in the art and science of film production,
while the ready availability of cheaper equipment and specialized computer
software means that making movies is a field open to more and more people. While
some may consider it as just a hobby, others take it very seriously and plan an
