Only a few years ago there was a very limited number of Film Schools.
Today that number has expanded significantly; and there are hundreds of film
schools that range from departments within larger universities, to degree
specific schools, to online programs. Whether you are interested in a
certificate degree or a PhD in a specialized area of film, such as
cinematography, there is a course for you. This rapid increase in programs is
due very largely to the technological advancements being made. Equipment
is cheaper and far more readily available. Editing and postproduction work can
be done with software and equipment that is more widely obtainable and
dramatically cheaper than before.
When choosing a film school make sure you weigh all the options and select one
that fits your interests, your personality, and of course your budget. Check the
qualifications of the teaching staff, the reputation of the school, and above
all, check that the qualifications you may acquire will be of real use to you in
your chosen career. |
