Vioxx is an anti-inflammatory
popularly used for the treatment of arthritis.
On September 30, 2004 the drug manufacturing
company Merck & Co. voluntarily took Vioxx off of the market
worldwide. This withdrawal was a result of a research study
done by Merck & Co. that found that people taking Vioxx for
longer than 18 months had an increased risk of heart attack
and stroke. The actual numbers were 7.5 people in 1000 on
Vioxx as compared to 3 in 1000 for people not on Vioxx.
If you are currently taking Vioxx it is
recommended that you contact your physician in a timely
manner, he/she will help you decide the best course of
action for your care and treatment. If you were a Vioxx user
you may also want to contact a Vioxx lawyer, as
opposed to a regular lawyer. A Vioxx lawyer is
familiar with the complexities of these cases and often
times can get you compensation without ever having to go to
court. Vioxx lawyers are familiar with the very
specific regulations that govern medical products liability.
A Vioxx lawyer can usually provide more accurate
information than a regular attorney. |
